MQ Print Developer (GAF-125)

This formula, similar to Kodak D-72, is recommended for most high quality enlarging papers, and can also be used for development of roll, pack and sheet film when brilliant negatives are desired. Oriental VC Plus paper exhibits a pleasing palette of subtle warm tones using the normal 1:2 dilution, and can be toned a deeper richer brown with Sepia Sulfide 221 Toner.

STOCK SOLUTION
Chemical Amount Units
Water (125°F/52°C) 750 ml
Metol 3 g
Sodium Sulfite (anhy) 44 g
Hydroquinone 12 g
Sodium Carbonate (anhy) 65 g
Potassium Bromide 2 g
Cold water to make 1000 ml

USAGE
PAPER DEVELOPMENT: Dilute 1 part stock solution with 2 parts water. Develop 1 to 2 minutes at 68°F/20°C. For softer and slower development dilute 1 to 4 and develop 1½ to 3 minutes at 68°F/20°C. For greater brilliance, shorten the exposure slightly and lengthen the development time. For greater softness, lengthen the exposure slightly and shorten the development time.

FILM DEVELOPMENT
Dilute 1 part stock solution with 1 part water and develop 3 to 3½ minutes at 68°F/20°C. For softer results, dilute 1 to 3 and develop 3 to 3½ minutes at 68°F/20°C.

NOTE
GAF-125 is similar to SA Warm-Tone Paper Developer except the SA versions substitutes 30g Potassium Carbonate (mono) for the 65g Sodium Carbonate (mono) used in the GAF-125 formula.
Ansco 125 is the same as GAF 125, with Ansco 103 and Ansco 135 being quite similar to GAF 125. Kodak D-72 uses 80g of sodium carbonate instead of 65g.
